  • Importance of Virtual Team Building

Due to COVID-19, there is a rising trend of staff working from home, which has greatly strained the relationship between them. This is an important issue to take note of as team cohesion can greatly influence the company. Therefore, one way to improve this situation will be to engage in virtual team building. Here are some reasons why virtual team building is so important! 1. Forge Meaningful Bonds By participating in team-building activities, meaningful bonds can be formed between the staff, which aids in communication within the team. This allows the team to achieve better and faster results which will greatly benefit your company. For our Online Escape Room experience, it allows for participants to communicate and discuss strategies with their teammates in order to achieve the goal. This will certainly help to improve communication, which the team can bring back to the workplace. 2. Improve Productivity When there is a strong bond within the team, they are aware of a common goal that they need to achieve. To achieve the goal, they are willing to encourage each other, spurring the team to achieve better quality results within a short period of time. 3. Alleviate Loneliness Due to the pandemic, colleagues are not able to communicate with each other and this may lead to work loneliness. This may negatively affect one’s mental health and in turn, affect work outcomes. By participating in our Online Escape Room, participants can communicate with one another through a web conferencing platform (be it Zoom or MS Teams), which helps to alleviate loneliness. They get the opportunity to communicate with one another despite not meeting face-to-face. Therefore, in view of this pandemic, it is important to maintain team cohesion and trust between each other to produce higher quality work. It is crucial that you find the right event planner for your event as you wouldn’t want your event to fail miserably! Here are some factors which will help you to identify the right Event Planner! 1. Budget A professional event planner will tend to work around the budget you have proposed and even add in extra perks to make your event even more memorable. They are able to propose different ideas that are within the budget for you to consider adding to your event. Another important thing to note is the amount the event planner is charging for the event management fee. If you are working on a tight budget, you have to take note of this before engaging the event planner. 2. Knowledge Having a knowledgeable event planner is very important as they will propose ideas based on your target audience and the objective that you are trying to achieve. They will try to understand your needs and turn your vision into reality. An experienced event planner will tend to propose ideas that are extraordinary, making your event even more successful! 3. Resources Other than having experience in event planning, the event planner must have various resources that can be utilised for events of different themes. Having a wide range of logistics and services in-house will definitely help to keep the costs low. This way, they have a higher chance of sticking to your budget. For instance, it is important for the event planner to have a network of vendors and suppliers that they can work together with, be it for the venue, AV equipment, etc. With this network, it will allow the planning stage to go smoothly without any delays. 4. Credibility Their credibility can be assessed through their past experiences, reviews shown on various platforms, referrals and many more. With a credible event planner, quality is ensured leading to a successful event. You can take note of past customers' testimonials and reviews to find out if an event planner is credible. With that checked, you can then research more about what the event planner has to offer, and whether they are able to meet your needs and expectations. 5. Fun Lastly, a fun event planner means a fun event. Find yourself a fun event planner who will create interactive events that are within your budget and achieve your key objectives! • Staying Productive While Working From Home!

It’s been close to a month since the circuit breaker measures were implemented which led to many of us working from home. According to a Qualtrics study, two-thirds of the respondents feel less productive since they started working from home (Singapore Business Review, 2020). Here are some tips for you to stay productive while working from home. 1. Have a proper working space While many are tempted to work from the comfort of the bed, remind yourself this is a no as it is harder to get into the work-mode. Working in your bedroom may end up blurring the lines between your work and personal time, and may even affect the quality of sleep you get in the long run. Instead, have a designated workspace to help you set clear boundaries between work-mode and home-mode. It is good to have a space that is similar to the one at work to emulate your usual work environment. This also means having a clean and well-lit working space. Keep your work area uncluttered and remove the things not needed from the area. This will help to optimize your focus and allow you to think clearly as you work. Working in a clean environment is also beneficial to your physical health! You may also wish to invest in equipment that will make your working space more comfortable. For example, a comfortable ergonomic chair that can allow you to concentrate on your work or a portable aircon to keep you cool as you work. Do not want to buy an aircon? You can rent a 12,000BTU portable aircon from us! 2. Plan and stick to your schedule Without the tradition workplace that you are used to, it is important to keep a more structured daily schedule than usual. Start each day of the week by writing down your to-do list and what you wish to accomplish each day. This will then help you better plan and create a suitable schedule that you can follow. Be disciplined in following the schedule you have set for yourself so that you will feel more structured and efficient, and will help keep your attention focused. 3. Take breaks in between Working the entire day in front of the screen can take a toll on your body. It is good to get up when you are feeling tired or distracted and take a mini-break. You can perhaps choose to grab a healthy snack, walk around your home, do some stretching, etc. for a few minutes to help yourself decompress and go back to work more focused. Doing some light exercises during breaks can also help reduce the muscle soreness and stress in your body, as well as stimulate blood circulation, boosting your energy. While you take actions in trying to make working from home productive, remember to establish a work-life balance too. Walk away from your workspace when you need a break or when the day has ended so that you do not put yourself at risk of burning out. It is really important to take care of yourself now when you are working from home so that you can maintain your productivity levels too. To sum it up, remember to have a designated working space to define the boundaries between work mode and rest mode, have a day-to-day schedule to keep to as well as taking breaks when necessary and maintaining a work-life balance.

  • COVID-19 Precautionary Measures

Recently, Singapore has seen a sharp increase in the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases. As a result, Singapore has stepped up its measures and implemented the Circuit Breaker as a temporary measure on 7th April 2020. With more than 2500 cases currently, we have read up different sources and consolidated a few ways on the basic precautionary measures we can take. 1. Maintain Social Distancing During this circuit breaker period, Singaporeans are advised to only leave the house for essential reasons, such as to get essential goods and services, or if one works in an essential service sector. All gatherings with family or friends who do not live together are banned as well. As for those that leave the house, a safety distance of at least one metre must be kept from others (Gov.sg, 2020). It is important for us to maintain social distance in this period of time, especially with someone who is coughing or sneezing, so as to contain the spread of the virus. Social distancing does not only protect us but helps protect those around us too. Let’s stand together by not standing together physically. 2. Practise Good Hygiene Cover our mouth and nose when we need to cough or sneeze and dispose of the used tissue and wash our hands immediately. Also, avoid touching our eyes, nose and mouth as our hands touch many surfaces and can pick up viruses from there. The contaminated hands can then transfer the virus picked up to our eyes, nose or mouth, which can enter our body and make us sick as a result (WHO, 2020). 3. Cleaning and Disinfecting Washing our hands regularly and thoroughly with soap and water or an alcohol-based hand rub will help kill the viruses that may be on our hands. According to a study, the COVID-19 virus can stick around on plastic surfaces for up to three days. Thus, by washing hands regularly, it is the first line of defence against the virus (Belgey, 2020). It is also good to clean your homes and disinfect the place especially when a household member is sick. The frequently touched surfaces and surfaces which may have been exposed to respiratory droplets should be sanitized (National Environment Agency, 2020). JNR Entertainment has also introduced our Disinfection Service in Singapore. If you require disinfection and do not wish to do all the hassle yourself, why not engage our professional service to do so for you? Above all, let’s stand in solidarity together as one to overcome this adversity together as we all be socially responsible in this period of time. From all of us at JNR Entertainment, we hope that everyone will stay healthy and take care. Till we meet again in future events! References Belgey, S. (2020, March 19).
